Benefactor Fellowships

Benefactors of Kidney Research UK Fellows are directly supporting invaluable scientific breakthrough projects and pioneering work into many key areas of kidney research with the very best renal professionals in the UK.

Over the last 50 years Kidney Research UK has, played a leading role in the development of medical science and new treatments for kidney disease. Our commitment for the year 2010-11 was £2.7 million  invested into our Fellowships grants scheme.

Benefactor Fellowships

When you become a benefactor of Kidney Research UK Fellows you will be supporting and improving the understanding of kidney disease, its causes, treatment and care by helping to fund pioneering, life saving scientific research. Benefactors can act as catalysts for the greater understanding of our critical research.

Benefactor receptions

As benefactors for Kidney Research UK Fellows, you have the opportunity to meet some of our world leading renal Doctors. Hear and watch specialists explain their work, in their own words and ask them questions in an informal but exclusive setting.

In November 2011, a small group of Kidney Research UK benefactors met with our researchers at Leicester General Hospital. They spent the day learning about why exercise therapy makes a positive difference to kidney patients, discovered what’s involved in predicting disease outcomes, and saw firsthand the lengths we’re going to, to find new treatments for kidney disease. The group were also given a unique tour of the hospital’s laboratories, where they caught a glimpse of a ‘world first’ trial around kidney transplantation, which is being funded by the Charity.

Hugh Collingwood, a Kidney Research UK benefactor of several years, had this to say about the visit:

“Thank you for an enjoyable and informative visit; it was impressive to see what’s being done with the money I donate. I found the transplant research fascinating and hope their findings will prove to be significant.

“We didn’t realise just how difficult it is for the researchers to gain funding until we talked to them; it’s really reinforced the significance and importance of Kidney Research UK.”

Come and meet other like minded people whilst gaining an insight into the fascinating world of kidney research. Benefactor receptions are often organised at unique venues that are not normally open to the public.
