Outdoor Courtyards

Hang out spaces for you and your friends

The Nido Courtyards, which are located just off the lobby, are great hang out spaces for you and your friends. It features a marquee to allow students to use this space regardless of the weather. BBQ's and parties are organised regularly during the summer and the Residence Life team will use this space as needed for monthly in-house events.

What you may or may not have noticed is the fab sculpture at the back. Leading sculptor, William Pye, unveiled the 8.5 meter piece in June 2008 - on the same site that his first major commission appeared over thirty years ago!! That's some history.

The original sculpture was installed in 1974 in front of, what was then, one of London's original tower blocks. Prior to the redevelopment of these towers into Nido King's Cross, we had the sculpture removed, refurbished and had it reinstalled in the courtyard so you and the public could admire it for years to come.

The new sculpture is made entirely of stainless steel and it's secured by cables attached to large stainless steel 'sails'. Be sure to take a look when you are out there.
