Q: Who will benefit from a breast enlargement?

Women who have either always had small breasts or who have lost breast tissue due to weight loss or pregnancy. Sometimes a breast uplift may also be recommended to achieve the best results. 

 

Q: What size can my breasts be increased to?

The surgeon will usually attempt to increase your bust size by at least two sizes, for example from A to C cup size.  However, you can only be made as large as medically possible. During your consultation the surgeon will be able to assess approximately the cup size that you will increase to afterwards.

 

Q: Where do the implants go - "under" or "over" the muscle?

At your consultation and in discussion with you, your surgeon will choose the positioning of the implant, depending on  your physical characteristics. 

  • "Submuscular" - implant placed partially or totally under the pectoralis major muscle

  • "Subglandular" - implant placed on top of the muscle and over the glands

Q: Will my breasts look and feel natural?

Yes, once the breasts have settled. During the first few weeks following your operation your breast enharcement will feel very firm, swollen and pert.

Q: What implants do you use?

Q: How do I know which size to go for?

Don't worry - your surgeon will assess your physiology and discuss your preferences with you before recommending the best implant to suit your frame and give you the look you want.  The Hospital Group also offer the Biodynamics® Breast Analysis System in a Computer Assisted Consultation which takes very detailed measurements, after which you can literally see and feel the effect of your new implants by wearing specially made breast prosthesis under a purpose-made stretchy vest.  This is available with a Natrelle™ consultation.  Click here to read more. 

 

Q: Will I need to take time off work?

Yes, normally 7 -10 days is required off work unless your job involves any lifting or carrying, then you may be advised to take more time off. In this case the surgeon can supply you with a medical certificate for your employer.

 

Q: Will my breasts be painful afterwards?

Many Breast Augmentation patients say they experience more discomfort than actual pain, though you can expect to feel sore and tender afterwards, and you will experience a certain amount of post-operative bruising and swelling over the area(s) treated.

 

Q: Can I speak to someone who has had a breast enlargement?

Yes, many of our staff have had a breast enlargement and various other cosmetic surgery procedures. We also have many patients who are happy to talk to you about their own experiences

The Hospital Group featured in BBC documentary, Boob Job: My Big Decision, on Thursday 23rd July at 9pm (BBC3).  The programme followed two teenage girls interested in breast enlargement and took them through each step to provide all the facts surrounding the procedure in order for them to make an informed decision on whether they go ahead with a boob job when they are 18.  Our surgeon Mr Sulaiman performed a breast augmentation procedure for the girls to see first hand what it really entails.

How do I know if breast surgery is right for me?


Your surgeon will to tell you which form of breast surgery is most suitable for you and will help you understand the risks. Only you can decide whether the operation is right for you. Your surgeon will help you achieve your aim. Although no surgeon can give a guarantee, cosmetic surgery should not be scheduled unless there is a good chance you will be pleased with the result. The final decision remains one that only you can make.

 

Breast Enlargement - if you have small breasts they may not appear in proportion with your size or offer the fashion options that enhance your figure.  Even if you are happy with your size and shape, it's hard to keep the same figure through the years.  Breast implants can help create the ideal size, shape and feel for a more confident, feminine you

 

Breast Uplift- many women seek this procedure after pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight loss or simply the ageing process, where the breasts sag and lose volume.  A mastopexy is a common choice to create a more youthful profile.  It can be combined with implants where more volume is also required.
