Otoplasty and Ear Surgery

Otoplasty

Otoplasty, or, ear correction, is a popular procedure amongst both men and women of all ages. Ears that protrude or appear overly large can often cause great emotional distress, which is why ear correction is one of our most common cosmetic procedures.

Cosmetic Ear Surgery

Whatever the problem, in the hands of a skilled plastic surgeon, most of these imperfections can be considerably improved. Ear correction can therefore, give the patient both a visual and also a psychological improvement.

faqFrequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I decide the shape of my new ears?
Generally yes. Many considerations need to be taken into account and these will be discussed during your consultation with your surgeon.

Q: What happens after ear correction surgery?
After an Otoplasty is completed, you will have a dressing put on in the operating theatre. It is important that this dressing is not removed for at least 7-10 days.

Q: Will I have any scarring after my ear surgery?
Many plastic surgeons perform otoplasty by making the incision behind the ear so in most cases the scar will be hidden.

Q: Will this type of cosmetic surgery be painful?
Anaesthetic ensures that you are comfortable and feel no pain. After ear surgery, any pain or discomfort you may experience can be controlled through medication and will usually subside within a matter of days.

Q: I've heard the phrase 'pinnaplasty,' is this the same as 'otoplasty'?
Pinnaplasty is just another term for ear correction, both involve the same surgical procedure.
