In October 2011, Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) come into force in the UK, giving agency workers the right to equal treatment versus those recruited directly by the hirer.
Equal treatment for the purposes of AWR will be extended after 12 weeks and provides that agency workers receive the same basic terms and conditions as those recruited directly.
Agency workers play, and will continue to play an important part in the resourcing strategies of many employers who benefit from the flexible use of labour. In order to prepare for this forthcoming legislation, employers need to ensure that they understand the impact of AWR and are working alongside agencies to prepare for implementation.
Recruitment specialist Reed is committed to supporting employers with all their resourcing needs, and is helping organisations prepare.
